8, 9 e 10 de março de 2016 em Coimbra

«No ano em que se assinala o centenário da declaração de guerra da Alemanha a Portugal, de 9 de março de 1916, importa estudar, refletir e debater as consequências da participação, na política interna e externa, do Exército e da Marinha de Portugal no primeiro conflito militar à escala mundial (1914 e 1918). A paz alcançada na Conferência de Versalhes em 1919 traduziu-se, no ano seguinte, na criação da Sociedade das Nações e, consequentemente, na criação de uma nova ordem

internacional.

É inserido no programa nacional da Evocação do Centenário da I Guerra Mundial que se

realiza nas instalações da Brigada de Intervenção, em Coimbra, o Congresso Internacional

Portugal na Grande Guerra, a 8, 9 e 10 de março de 2016, uma organização conjunta do Centro

de Estudos Interdisciplinares do Século XX da Universidade de Coimbra - CEIS20 e da Comissão

Coordenadora da Evocação do Centenário da I Guerra Mundial que pretende fazer um balanço

científico e historiográfico em torno dos seguintes eixos temáticos:

1 - As campanhas militares em África

2 - A participação na guerra europeia

3 - A política externa portuguesa e a nova ordem internacional (...)»

Congresso "The Great War in África". 14 e 15 de Julho na Universidade Nova de Lisboa

«The Great War Africa Association and The International Network for the Study of the Great War in Africa are combining to host the 2014 conference on 14 and 15 July in Lisbon.
In recognition of the growing interest in the African theatres of the War, an interest which has spread across the globe and into various fields of study, the two organisations focusing on the Great War in Africa are continuing to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and information on the campaigns in Africa.
The conference aims at bringing together interested persons, both amateur and professional, to share and extend their knowledge of the war in Africa. The proceedings of the conference will be published.

In particular, contributions will be sought from those working on:
-Military, political, social, economic or cultural themes around the campaigns
-The dispute of empires including the mobilisation and strategy of the European powers towards the war in Africa
-Heritage, including archival, archaeological, documentary and family history
-The impact of the campaign or aspects thereof, including representations of the campaign through time, memory studies, re-enactment, literature and film»
